four to the core: instructor Q&A

How did your yoga journey start, and what does it look like today?

My movement journey truly began in 2017, while I was training for a marathon and suffered an injury. Yoga became my tool for healing — helping me stay strong, recover, and continue training. What started as a means of recovery quickly grew into a passion as I discovered the many benefits yoga brings to both body and mind. Over the years, I explored a wide range of styles, from Power Yoga to Restorative, Yin, Bikram, and Hot Yoga.  As I deepened my practice, I became drawn to breathwork and meditation, completing my Kundalini training in 2020. Around the same time, I found Pilates and was struck by how much it strengthened my core, improved my alignment, and supported both injury prevention and overall balance. That same year, I completed my Pilates training and began teaching, weaving its principles of precision and stability into my movement practice. A few years later, I fell deeply in love with Vinyasa and became a certified teacher in 2022.  Today, both yoga and Pilates are anchors in my life. I’m on the mat 3–4 times a week and lead weekly Vinyasa and Pilates classes. Together, these practices allow me to offer students a balance of strength, mobility, breath, and mindfulness — creating spaces where they can find presence, resilience, and growth both on and off the mat.

What’s something outside of yoga that inspires your practice?

Outside of yoga, my biggest inspiration comes from my family, especially my niece and nephew, who remind me of the importance of joy, curiosity, and presence. My career as an educator also deeply shapes my practice — teaching has shown me how valuable it is to create spaces where people feel supported, challenged, and seen. Just as I share yoga with my students in the classroom, I bring that same spirit of patience, encouragement, and growth to my practice and to the classes I lead. The same is true in Pilates — I love helping students connect to their core, build strength from within, and carry that sense of focus and empowerment into their everyday lives.

What do you hope students take away from your classes?

I hope students leave my classes feeling grounded and empowered, with a deeper connection to their breath, body, and inner strength.  My goal is for each person to experience practice not just as movement, but as a tool they can carry into daily life: for focus, resilience, and self-care.

In three words, how would you describe the vibe of your classes?
